Moffatdale Winery Route (MWR)

This was the brainchild of a small group of local riders and completes the first phase of the Loop Ride Project. Four wineries, great food, beautiful countryside and plenty of places to stay. Sound good to me.

The Moffatdale Winery Route is a fully signposted and mapped ride, that starts and finishes on the South Burnett Rail Trail. The ride begins on the Rail Trail approximately 6.5kms north of Murgon. The whole ride is approximately 20kms (one way). The ride route takes you through the Moffatdale valley, past farms and open countryside. A detailed map of the ride can be found on the Moffatdale Winery Route Webpage .

If you are looking for a quick map of the Moffatdale Winery Route it can be found on Trailforks.

To find the ride route just follow the signage on the Rail Trail, this will lead you to the main highway and the Moondooner Rd intersection. Once you are on Moondooner Rd the route follows quiet backroads to the winery region at Moffatdale. The ride would be classed as easy (we have avoided nearly all the hills) and the road surface in generally very good.

There are 4 wineries to explore with a number of different accommodation styles, should you want to spend the night. The food and wine at all the wineries is excellent as is well worth the ride.

(Please contact the wineries before you arrive to check opening hours as these can change)

Just down the road there is also the beautiful BP Dam and the Yallakool Caravan Park which is situated right on the banks of the dam. This is a great spot to stop and unwind.

We are very proud of this route and it wouldn't have happened without the wonderful support of the local wineries mentioned above, or the support of the South Burnett Regional Council.

Thank you everyone and ENJOY!
